Johan Ackermann has extended his contract as Head Coach at Gloucester Rugby.

The 48-year-old has had a hugely successful season after arriving at Kingsholm stadium less than two years ago.

Ackerman's first season say the Cherry and Whites reach the European Rugby Challenge Cup final and qualify for this season’s Heineken Champions Cup.

And in his second season he's brought Gloucester Rugby up four places to third in the Premiership table.

The past two seasons have been incredibly enjoyable for me and I feel very proud to be a part of such an amazing club. The passion of the city and the supporters, the way they have welcomed my family and myself has been very humbling.

We are assembling a fine group at Gloucester Rugby, quality individuals which includes not just our players but also the coaches and staff.

And I’m confident that, if we all pull together, work hard and remain true to our beliefs that we can do great things for the club, its supporters and the city of Gloucester!
