Man critical after being stabbed outside Brixham pub

A man remains in a critical condition in hospital after he was stabbed outside a pub in Brixham.

Emergency services, including armed police and the air ambulance, were called to The Quay on Friday night (June 14) following the incident outside The Sprat and Mackerel pub.

The injured man was airlifted to Derriford Hospital in Plymouth, where he remains in a critical condition.

Police have since revealed that a 48-year-old man and a 34-year-old woman, both from Brixham, were arrested in connection with the incident and have been released on bail.

Police and ambulance were called around 7pm on Friday 14 June following a serious assault on The Quay, Brixham.

Police resources including local units and firearms officers, as well as the ambulance services, attended the scene.

A man approached a vehicle outside the Sprat and Mackerel pub and an altercation occurred.

The man, in his 40s, sustained a serious knife wound, described as life-threatening. He was airlifted by air ambulance to Derriford Hospital in Plymouth, where he remains in a critical condition. A 48-year-old man and a 34-year-old woman from Brixham were arrested and later released on police bail until Thursday, July 11.

Following the incident, which senior officers described as “isolated”, police have appealed for anyone with any information to get in touch.

Detective Chief Inspector Ian Reid urged anyone who was near The Quay on Friday evening, or who saw what happened, to call 101.

At this time, this is being treated as an isolated incident where all parties are believed to be known to each other. We are not looking for anyone else in connection with this matter.
