Guns were seized from a house in Brixham after a neighbourly dispute over a barking dog resulted in police being called.

Officers were called to Higher Copythorne, on the outskirts of the Devon town, on Monday (June 17) night after gunshots were reportedly heard.

At least five police cars were spotted in the area, and a number of guns were later seized by a man involved in the dispute.

The weapons included an air gun, starter pistol and decommissioned firearms.

A spokesperson for Devon and Cornwall Police said the owner of the guns did not have a valid firearm’s certificate.

Police were called just before 5pm on Monday 17 June to Higher Copythorne in Brixham following reports of gunfire being heard in the area.

A search was undertaken and a number of firearms were located within the property; due to the owner's firearms certificate no longer being valid, these were seized by officers at the scene.
