A lorry driver has been taken to hospital after his livestock transporter overturned in the early hours on the M32.
It happened just after midnight close to the junction with the M4.
Police say 190 pigs were trapped inside the vehicle.
A vet came to the crash scene as soon as possible and checked over the animals as emergency services helped move them from the damaged lorry to another transporter.
It is not known yet how many of the animals survived.
The lorry driver is not thought to have life threatening or life changing injuries.
All lanes were closed in the early hours and the vehicle was righted around 4am and moved off the motorway.
One lane remains closed on the northbound side heading out of Bristol towards the M4.
Traffic has been building during rush hour and is having a knock on effect to the wider road network.
