A collapsed manhole and a broken down caravan have caused lengthy delays on main roads across the West Country.
Severe delays of more than an hour have been reported on the A35 in both directions near Applecombe, Dorset, while repairs are made to a collapsed manhole.
Congestion is reported as far back as Charmouth heading eastbound, and past Bridport heading westbound.
Temporary traffic lights are in operation and travel time is approximately 60 minutes in either direction, which is not helped by the usual Friday afternoon traffic travelling between Devon and Dorset.
On the M5, meanwhile, one lane is closed southbound due to an earlier accident between junction 16 for Aztec West and junction 17 for Cribbs Causeway.
A temporary 50mph speed restriction has been enforced while Highways England say repairs to a damaged barrier will take place on Saturday morning.
