A female paedophile from Plymouth - dubbed ‘Britain’s most notorious’ - is to be released from prison.

Vanessa George was jailed for seven years in 2009 after admitting abusing young children at the nursery she worked at.

The 48-year-old mum-of-two was part of a wider paedophile ring which involved at least five other adults from across the country.

She was recommended for release from prison by the Parole Board after members were satisfied she no longer posed a significant risk to the public.

The Parole Board has directed the release of Vanessa George, following a parole review that was concluded in July 2019.

Parole Board decisions are solely focused on whether a prisoner would represent a significant risk to the public after release.

The panel will have carefully looked at a whole range of evidence, including details of the original evidence and any evidence of behaviour change.
