But can the South West competitors top the 21-strong shortlist to take home the title of best shed in the country?

In the 'Workshop/Studio' category, Mary Price's painting studio is competing for the top spot. The artist, based in Bristol, has decorated her shed with vivid acrylic paintings.

The shed is so important to me; it's my studio. For years and years I had to paint using the dining room table and the problem with that is you have to pack everything away every time you sit down and have a painting session.

So about seven or eight years ago I bought this shed and it's just transformed my life completely.

What I've tried to go is recreate a meadow in my garden.

– Mary Price, Shed of the Year finalist

The public has until August 29 to vote for the Shed of the Year - here's hoping for a West Country win.
