Extinction Rebellion are in Bath protesting against the polluted air of the City.

The 'Breath in Bath' event saw hundreds of climate change activists walking through Bath, taking them directly into Queen Square for what they called a 'Protestival'.

They staged a mass lie-down at Bath Abbey to 'represent the current and future casualties of climate change'.

On the 'Breathe in Bath' Facebook page, the group said:

We praise Bath Council's declaration of a climate emergency but concrete steps must now be taken with ambition and urgency. The Bath Rebellion will draw attention to these crises, the lack of action, and point specifically to Bath's toxic air that regularly exceeds the legal limits set by the EEA and what is deemed safe by the WHO.

The police say they were working with the group to limit disruption.

Organisers have been working with BANES Council, the emergency services, other partner agencies and the police to facilitate the event and minimise disruption to those living, working and visiting the city.

There will be an anti-pollution procession, starting at 11am and making its way to the abbey where there will be a 10 minute “lie down” before continuing to Queen Square, where they are due to arrive at midday to listen to speakers.

Organisers hope the event will have minimal disruption for those in the city.
