UPDATE: Devon and Cornwall Police has confirmed 999 and 101 reporting systems are now running normally again.

People in Devon and Cornwall are being warned that police are experiencing technical problems with their 999 and 101 reporting systems.

Officers are asking members of the public to "consider if the matter is urgent" before contacting the police.

You can still call 999 in an emergency but you will be put through to another force who will pass on your details to Devon and Cornwall Police.

The force is asking the public to remain patient and get in touch via 101@dc.police.uk to report non-urgent matters.

Officers have been deployed out on patrol to maximise visibility and reassurance while the situation continues.
