Huge fire breaks out at bungalow in Exeter

A bungalow has been destroyed after a fire broke out in Exeter this morning [September 30].

Avon and Somerset Fire and Rescue responded to calls of a blaze in Whipton Village just after 11am.

At the height of the fire there were nine crews tackling the flames at the bungalow on the corner of Whipton Village Road and Woolsery Avenue, close to the popular Half Moon pub.

The fire service have said no one was injured, but a member of the public required medical assistance after falling down at the property.

We were called to a domestic bungalow fire in Exeter. Initially four appliances were mobilised to a serious bungalow fire.

On arrival crew found that the bungalow was engulfed in flame mainly in the roof space and the ground floor.

Further appliances have come from as far as Newton Abbot and Teignmouth. The fire is now under control and we are now taking steps to identify the cause.

The cause at this stage is unknown.

The bungalow is fully involved, roof and ground floor. A serious fire has taken place. The occupants aren’t at home and we are now doing an investigation to discover the extent.
