A former police officer has been jailed after kicking a 15-year-old boy in the face during an arrest.
36-year-old Adam Kitchener assaulted the boy on Marsh Street, Bristol, at around 4am on March 31st.
The Independent Office for Police Conduct (IOPC) launched an investigation into Kitchener's use of force on the teen after a complaint was lodged.
Yesterday [October 22] Kitchener admitted assaulting the boy at Bristol Magistrates' Court and was sentenced to 14 weeks in custody.
Police officers should only use force when necessary, proportionate and reasonable in the circumstances.
Avon and Somerset Police are holding a gross misconduct hearing into the case, but Kitchener has already resigned from the force.
