With the third General Election in five years fast approaching, big names in the West Country have already announced they will not be standing in their constituencies this time around.
A full list of MPs in the West Country who have confirmed they'll be stepping aside for the December election:
CONFIRMED STANDING DOWN
- North Devon - Peter Heaton-Jones, Con
The North Devon MP has cited 'personal reasons' for standing down from his post at the upcoming general election.
He beat Lib Dem MP Nick Harvey to win the seat at the 2015 general election, and says his 'full support' will be behind the next Conservative candidate.
- West Dorset - Sir Oliver Letwin, Con
The former Shadow Chancellor was elected in West Dorset for the first time in 1997, but announced in August this year that he would not fight for the seat in another general election.
He was one of many Tory rebels who said they would stand down from their parliamentary posts following a series of contentious votes.
- Truro and Falmouth - Sarah Newton, Con
Sarah Newton won the seat from the Liberal Democrats in 2010 – the first time the constituency had been held by the Conservatives since 1974.
She also served as Minister of State at the Department for Work and Pensions from November 2017 to March 2019 and was Parliamentary Under Secretary of State at the Home Office from 17 July 2016 to 9 November 2017.
- Devizes - Claire Perry, Con
The former Energy Minister took over the seat in 2009, but has announced she will not stand for re-election in her Devizes constituency - now a key target for the Liberal Democrats.
She says she remains in "full support of our PM and his brave Brexit strategy".
- East Devon - Sir Hugo Swire, Con
Sir Hugo Swire has been a staple in the House of Commons since taking his seat in 2000.
He served in the shadow cabinet, as well as holding office as Minister of State for Northern Ireland and then Minister of State for the Foreign Commonwealth under a Conservative Government.
The MP has said he will continue to support Prime Minister Boris Johnson.
