A lorry driver arrested in Wiltshire on suspicion of people smuggling has been released on bail pending further investigation.

The arrest of the man, a UK national, followed the discovery of 15 men getting out of a refrigerated lorry on the A350 near Chippenham on Wednesday evening, 6 November.

The men - who are all thought to be over 16 and from Iran or Iraq - remain in custody after being arrested on suspicion of entering the UK illegally.

One of the 15 men was taken to hospital but this was not thought to be linked to his containment in the trailer. He has since been discharged from hospital and is now in custody.

Wiltshire Police called in Immigration Enforcement following the discovery and its officers have now taken over the investigation. The Home Office says the 15 men arrested will be dealt with in accordance with immigration rules.
