An elderly man was dragged around four feet down the road in a suspected deliberate hit-and-run, police have said.
The man, in his late 80s, was carried down Park Lane in Barnstaple after he stopped the driver to challenge him on his speed.
It's believed the vehicle then left the scene, and the man, where he was later treated for multiple cuts and bruises.
The man was walking along Park Lane around 12.10pm when he stopped a car and challenged the driver about speeding.
Police are looking for the driver who is white, in his 30s and with dark hair.
His vehicle was reported as a small black car which would have sustained wing mirror damage on the passenger side.
Police are now appealing to anyone who may have been in the area between noon and 12:10pm who may have seen the vehicle.
