A cyclist has been left with life changing injuries after a collision with a car in Westbury last night (November 17).

The cyclist – a man in his 40s from Trowbridge – was taken to Southmead Hospital.

Wiltshire police is appealing for people with information or dash cam footage after a man in his 40s was left with serious leg injuries.

A BMW M5 was travelling south on the A350 approaching Coach Road at around 6pm when it collided with the cyclist.

There were four people in the BMW, all of whom had left the scene and were later located by officers walking along Coach Road.

Three men and one woman, aged between 21 and 46, have been arrested on suspicion of multiple offences including:

  • Causing injury by dangerous driving

  • Failing to stop at the scene of a road traffic collision

  • Drink driving

They are still being questioned and are in custody in Melksham.

The road was closed for eight hours following the crash.

This was a serious collision which has left a local man suffering serious life changing injuries which will require surgery today.
