Elderly man dies in New Year's Day crash with lorry on A30 in Bodmin

An elderly man has died following a crash with a lorry on the A30 in Bodmin.

It happened at around 6pm on Wednesday 1 January, on the westbound carriageway of the A30 at Lanivet.

A man in his eighties from Falmouth, who was driving a Citroen, died at the scene.

The driver of the lorry was uninjured.

Both sides of the road are now reopen after they were closed overnight for forensic examinations, until around 9am today (Thursday 2 January).

Devon and Cornwall Police described it as a "complex and extended collision scene".

Several other cars travelling on the eastbound carriageway were damaged from the debris in the crash.

Officers from the force's Roads Policing Team are now appealing for witnesses who may have seen what happened or have dash cam footage.
