30-year-old charged with murder after man dies in East Devon caravan fire

A 30-year-old man has been charged with murder after a man died in a caravan fire in East Devon.

It happened at a scrapyard in Newton Poppleford on Thursday 9 January.

Lewis Finch has been charged with the murder of 47-year-old Geoffrey Pearce, who was pronounced dead at the scene.

He is due to appear at Exeter Magistrates' Court today (Saturday 11 January).

Police activity will continue at the scene in Newton Poppleford and on Cheshire Road in Exmouth. This will likely to continue into the weekend, however, neighbouring roads and properties will remain unaffected. We would like to thank the local community for their co-operation during this enquiry.
