Police launch appeal after cockerels theft at Dorset farm

Police in Dorset are investigating a theft from a farm in Shaftesbury which five cockerels were taken.

The cockerels are rare breeds of show birds which are believed to be worth £300 each.

Police say the birds were taken between eleven in the morning and close to nine on the 18th January from a secured outbuilding in the Mampitts Lane area.

The cockerels are of various breeds including a Shamo, Stag and a Bearded Asil Credit: Dorset Police

We are continuing to make enquiries to identify who is responsible for these thefts and I am appealing to anyone who may have witnessed any suspicious activity in the area at the relevant time to please contact us.

I would also like to hear from anyone who may have come across any cockerels in unusual circumstances since Saturday 18 January.
