Coach drivers from Weston-super-Mare operating ambulances in Bristol to support the NHS

Drivers from a holiday coach company in Weston-super-Mare are now driving ambulances in Bristol to support the NHS.

With resources stretched by the coronavirus pandemic, their role focuses on transferring patients home.

Since the coronavirus outbreak all trips have stopped and business has dried up for Bakers Dolphin.

Its drivers were facing unemployment but are now transporting patients home after they are discharged from hospital.

They include Paul Mansfield who has more than two decades of experience but has had to adjust to operating a new vehicle:

The drivers are not the only ones doing their bit.

After an appeal for volunteers to help the NHS yesterday - more than 400,000 people put their name forward.
