A man has suffered life threatening injuries after his car was hit by wood which spilled out of a tractor trailer.
The incident happened at around 10.30am on Saturday (4 April) on Penwarne Road near Mawnan Smith, Falmouth.
The road was closed for several hours while police carried out an investigation.
Devon and Cornwall Police said the 46-year-old driver of the car was flown to Derriford Hospital by air ambulance with very serious upper body injuries.
A spokesperson said: “Reports came in at 10.30am of a tractor turned on its side, leaving stacks of wood to come out of the trailer. The stacks of wood spilled on a car on a bend."
They added: “Traffic teams, ambulance, air ambulance and the fire service were all notified. The scene was locked down at 11am."
A police statement added: "As a result of the collision, a 46-year-old male received upper body injuries, thought to be potentially life changing/life threatening.
"Local police officers, operations department officers and specialist officers from the Roads Policing Team attended the scene, closed the road and launched a full examination of the scene.
"Police are requesting that any witnesses with any information and or dash camera footage are to please come forward, unless they have already been in contact with officers at the scene.
"The police incident number is 171 dated 4 April 2020."
