Swindon Town and Plymouth Argyle managers celebrate promotion

Swindon Town and Plymouth Argyle managers, Richie Wellens and Ryan Lowe, have expressed their delight at the clubs being promoted, albeit under unusual circumstances.

Both League One clubs were automatically promoted on Tuesday, 9 June - Swindon as champions - after the EFL voted to bring the 2019/20 season to an early conclusion.

And the celebrations have been just as unconventional - Ryan Lowe gave a socially distanced press conference inside an empty Home Park, while Wellens conducted video interviews.

Wellens and Lowe also joined their players, supporters, and the club's media teams by expressing their joy social media:

In this short video, Argyle's manager is seen celebrating with his son Alfie and a bottle of champagne.

A dedicated poem narrating a recap of Swindon's season and its unusual ending is among the many celebratory videos that the new League Two champions have posted.

And Plymouth's iconic lighthouse, Smeaton's Tower, was illuminated green overnight to mark Argyle's achievement.
