Police have confirmed the death of a woman at a nursery in Plymouth, described as a "tragic accident" by staff members, is not being treated as suspicious.

The nursery worker was found dead on Thursday 9 July at Kiddi Caru nursery in Langage Business Park.

In a statement staff members said: "In what seems to have been a tragic accident, a member of our staff died today on nursery premises."

The accident happened in a part of the building where no children were present. No child witnessed the accident or its aftermath.

The statement added, "...early indications are that it does not raise any ongoing safety concerns."

They said everybody at Kiddi Caru is "heartbroken by this terrible event and the loss of a well-loved staff member."

Devon and Cornwall Police were called to the address at around 1.20pm on Thursday with a report of concern for the welfare of a woman.

The Health and Safety Executive has been informed and police enquiries are ongoing.
