Exeter traffic: Major delays sparked by lorry ‘wedged’ under A30 bridge in

The lorry stuck under a bridge on the A30.

A lorry has become “wedged” under a bridge in Exeter - bringing traffic to a halt on several main roads.

The vehicle collided with a bridge on the A30 at Alphington, closing the A377 in both directions.

Traffic is reportedly slow on the B3123 Church Road, while cars have been turned around in Ide Lane.

A30 sliproads have also been shut while emergency services deal with the trapped lorry.

“A truck has struck the bridge at Ide on the A30 at around 6:45am,” Devon and Cornwall Police tweeted.

“The bed of the lorry is wedged and emergency services are all in attendance. 

“Road expected to remain closed for at least two hours. Road users are advised to seek alternative routes.”
