Football Preview

Football: Torquay move to second position

There were mixed fortunes for our football teams last night.

In League One, Yeovil conceded a 94th minute equaliser at home to Scunthorpe drawing two-all draw at Huish Park. There was better news for Torquay though. They've moved up to second position in League Two after beating Rotherham one-nil.

Yeovil Town pushes ahead with redevelopment plans

Yeovil town football club has announced it's pushing ahead with redevelopment plans which could create more than a hundred and fifty jobs.

The club has signed a deal with West Country business man Chris Dawson to create a supermarket on land at Huish Park. If the deal gets the go ahead it could make millions of pounds for the club but it still needs planning permission.

Kauto Star passed fit to run in Friday's Cheltenham Gold Cup

Racehorse, Kauto Star has passed fit to run in Betfred Cheltenham Gold Cup.

The 12-year-old was feared a doubtful starter in Friday's showpiece event when it emerged he had suffered a schooling fall at trainer Paul Nicholls' yard earlier this month.

Nicholls, who's based in Somerset, was concerned about his condition after the tumble but after making massive strides in his recovery, Kauto Star was back on top form when enjoying a racecourse gallop at Wincanton on Friday.

Yeovil beat MK Dons away thanks to a first half goal from Gavin Williams. But Exeter failed to score at Brentford, losing two nil. Torquay are continuing to push for promotion after winning one nil at home to Aldershot. Plymouth got the result they were after. They won two one against Wimbledon.

In League One, Yeovil beat MK Dons away thanks to a first half goal from Gavin Williams. But Exeter failed to score at Brentford, losing 2-0.

In League Two, Torquay are continuing to push for promotion after winning at home to Aldershot. Rene Howe scored an early goal giving them a 1-0 win.

And Plymouth also got the result they were after. A 1-2 win against Wimbledon gave them the much-needed three points to help their battle against relegation.
