The West Country's meat industry is hoping it can capitalise on the boost in trade that's followed the recent scandal over horsemeat in processed food. The region's beef producers say it now gives them a real chance to promote themselves.

Farmer questions UK meat imports

The Gloucestershire farmer is questioning why we are importing processed meat if we don't know where it's come from. It comes after horse meat was found in a number of products sold in supermarkets. Most recently, Findus lasagnes were found to contain 100 per cent horse meat.

Charles Mann says that if overseas produce doesn't comply with the high welfare and traceability levels of British meat, then it should not be brought into the country. He also says people should buy from butchers where they can trust the source.
