UKIP leader Nigel Farage is on the election campaign in the West Country. His visit culminated today with a conference in Torbay. A protestor tried to join him on stage with a birthday cake, but failed to disrupt the conference.

A protester brandishing a cake tried to leap on stage during Nigel Farage's keynote speech to a UKIP conference in Torbay today.

The heckler was quickly ushered out of a side door by security at the conference at the end of the UKIP leader's whistlestop tour of the westcountry. Our Reporter Jacquie Bird was there:

His feathers were ruffled during an interview with Ian Axton about UKIP's immigration policy.

The party wants to ban people with certain health problems from entering the UK.
