The family of 16-year-old Rasmus Barlow, whose body was found in Cheddar Gorge last week, have released a tribute to him.

Rasmus, known affectionately to his family and friends as Ras was born in Weston-super-Mare Hospital back in 1998 and although half Swedish, he lived his entire 16 years in the same house in Cheddar, Somerset.

Ras lived with his older brother Simon (18) and his dad, Steve, although also spent many happy times visiting his mother Maria in Sweden.

Ras' extended family included his older brothers Tobias and David who left home some years ago and more recently his step-mother Anna and step-brother Charlie.

Ras was a truly unique and idiosyncratic character whose main ambition was to rule the world - however, whist world domination was in progress he planned to study medicine at university after completing his A-levels at Strode College and he had a particular interest in research.

Ras will be fondly remembered for his quips, one liners, amazing memory and in-depth knowledge of the most bizarre of subjects, including his well-known 'random fact of the day', which he published on his Facebook page, one of the more recent being 'No animal has 4 knees'.

It is impossible to put into words what we are feeling and how much Ras will be missed by all his family and friends, so all we can do now is celebrate his life and remember him for the kind, generous, quirky, individual he was and all the fantastic times we had together.

Rasmus’ death is not being treated as suspicious and a file is being prepared for the Coroner’s office.
