Totnes MP Dr Sarah Wollaston has long campaigned for the introduction of a sugar tax. It could mean the Government puts seven or eight pence on the price of a can of cola and uses the money for sporting activities or breakfast clubs or perhaps getting supermarkets to reduce the price of healthy options.
In an interview with ITV News, the former GP points out that you can consume your entire recommended daily allowance of sugar with just one can of fizzy pop.
