Why a bird colony could prevent a multi-million pound development

The area is home to a colony of Egrets - a white coloured bird similar to a heron.

A report to Plymouth City Council's planning committee has found the egrets would be disturbed if the hotel is built.

A sign gives an artist's impression of the development.

Councillors are expected to make a decision this afternoon.
