Lost Land Rover found nearly 30 years later

Shifting sands and big tides on a Cornish beach have revealed the remains of a Land Rover that was lost to the sea nearly 30 years ago.

The vehicle was abandoned at Gwithian near Hayle after being driven onto the soft sand in 1990.

The owner had fetched a tractor to pull it out, but the tide arrived first.

A 66-year-old man has been airlifted to hospital after collapsing on the beach at Gwithian.

A member of the RNLI shore-based lifeguards revived him using a defibrillator and the helicopter from RNAS Culdrose took him to the Royal Cornwall Hospital in Truro for treatment.

Falmouth Coastguard has praised the lifeguard for their actions.
