A diver from Somerset who went missing off the coast of Dorset on Sunday has been named as father-of-four Andy Moll.

The search for Mr Moll was called off after a major search across a ten-mile area failed to find him. The British Sub-Aqua Club, of which Mr Moll has been an active member, described him as a "very experienced diver", as well as "well-respected" and "a family man" in an emotional tribute.

We are immensely grateful for the dedication and professionalism of the Coastguard Staff and RNLI Swanage and RNLI Poole volunteers who assisted those club members on the dive and undertook an extensive air and sea search of the area.

Andy has been a long-standing, active, and well-respected member of the diving community for over thirty years. He has been a dedicated supporter of BSAC and a buddy, instructor, and a good personal friend to a great many members ... Everyone who knows Andy is truly devastated by recent events and our thoughts and concerns are with his family and all those involved.

The search has been called off for a diver from Somerset who has gone missing off the coast of Dorset.

The diver, who's believed to be in his fifties and from Taunton, went missing on Sunday (May 24th). It's thought he was a member of a diving club in Bristol.

Despite a major search across a ten-mile area after a call to the UK Coastguard from the boat 'Emma J', the man hasn’t been found.

This hasn’t been an easy decision to make. This man is still missing and we appreciate the concern and worry this is causing his family and friends.

We used many resources to make an extensive search of an area covering 10 square nautical miles. The search and rescue helicopter from Portland and then from Lee-on-Solent carried out a comprehensive search from the air and the lifeboats from Poole and Swanage did an equally thorough job on the sea.

In the absence of any further information we have decided not to resume the search. The family has been informed of this decision.
