Police in Dorset have begun a search in the Gillingham area after a report of a paraglider being out of control. It follows a calls from a member of the public who spotted what he believed to be a paraglider in trouble last night.
It appeared that the engine had cut out and the glider was spinning round and fell from about 200 feet to 50 feet before going out of sight. The location has been described as Chantry Fields behind Sainsbury’s and Asda.
Firefighters were called out this afternoon (Tuesday) to help a paraglider who crashed on Leckhampton Hill near Cheltenham.
Whey they arrived at the scene, they called in rope rescue teams from Coleford to help what was a complex rescue.
The Hazardous Area Response Team and paramedics also attended and the casualty was taken to hospital by air ambulance.
