The Chancellor was getting to grips with spider crabs this morning as the Conservative launches a major campaign to win votes in key marginal seats.

The Newquay seat was won by a majority of 1300 in what was a new seat in the 2010 election . The boat he was on was called the Reaper.

Chancellor to set out economic plan for South West

George Osborne is in the South West this morning and is expected to unveil his long term plans for the the region.

The Chancellor who is meeting with fishermen in Newquay will be joined by The Prime Minister later on today.

The plan will set measures to get over 150,000 more people into work, and increase the size of the regional economy in real terms by £6.4bn by 2030 (the equivalent of over £1000 per person). He will also announce £10m of funding for projects across the region through the coastal communities fund. The Chancellor will say that by working through a long term plan 'the future is bright in the south west'
