The NHS is encouraging all eligible groups to take up the offer of a free flu vaccine as the UK braces itself for a flu outbreak in winter.

Public Health England says six probable cases of measles have also been reported in the area.

The unnamed patient was in the same social circle as Bristol student George Zographou who died from meningitis B last month.

A student from St Brendan's College in Bristol was at Boardmasters festival when he fell ill. It is not known when he contracted meningitis.

NHS England says hundreds of children in Bristol are not protected against diseases including meningitis, diphtheria and measles.
