There are calls today for a road in Yeovil to be named in honour of rower Heather Stanning who was born in the town. Stanning won Britain's first gold medal of the Games alongside Helen Glover from Penzance yesterday (Wednesday).
A Facebook campaign has now been launched by councillor Jon Gleeson. With big housing developments planned for the town he says there is 'plenty' of opportunity to name a new road 'Stanning Row'.
