West Country badger cull

A cull of around 5,000 badgers can now legally get underway in Somerset and Gloucestershire as the Government tries to stop the spread of Bovine TB in cattle. If it is a success, it is expected to be rolled out in other parts of the country.

Protesters off to London as badger cull begins

The controversial badger cull is due to begin today in parts of Somerset and Gloucestershire. It is an attempt to halt the spread of TB in cattle. An anti-cull protest is planned for Central London this lunchtime (Saturday 1 June).

A coach carrying animal-rights activists is due to leave Bristol Temple Meads Station this morning, en route to the protest. Watch ITV News West Country at 6pm for a full report.
