An open meeting is taking place this evening to discuss improvements to the runway at Land's End airport.

The Isles of Scilly Steamship Company, which owns the airport, wants to tarmac over two of the grass strips to stop a repeat of the disruption from last winter's flooding.

Members of the design team will be at the airport from 5pm to explain what is involved.

The base will be closed for 22 days from 9th November to allow the work to take place.

Skybus services will operate from Newquay instead.
