Devon is the worst location in the UK for stag and deer poaching, according to official figures. In response, the police have today begun a specially targeted anti-poaching operation.
Called Project Trespass, it follows a recent discovery of eleven stag heads in a North Devon lay-by. Police believe organised gangs are behind the increase in this particular criminal activity.
Animal protection groups say more needs to be done to stop the cruelty.
