School children from Muchelney in Somerset who's homes are still cut off by flood water, have been transported to school by boat this morning.
Somerset County Council is paying a thousand pounds a day to hire a flat bottomed boat from the Canal Trust and pay firemen to operate it. It will run for 15 trips a day.
The service will run for at least a fortnight and possibly longer depending on when water levels allow the roads to Muchelney to be reopened.
Three year old Elsa Sadler can't have a birthday party because the floods on the Somerset Levels mean her friends can't get there.
It's now more than two weeks since huge parts of Somerset were hit by the flooding and it could be many more before life returns to normal.
People living on the Somerset Levels, many of whom are cut off by the recent floods, are calling for regular dredging to solve the problem
