Cornish China Clay manufacturer Imerys has announced 70 job losses following restructuring of its operations in mid-Cornwall.
The St Austell based company said the aim was to secure the long term future of the China Clay industry in Cornwall.
Imerys very much regrets that it is necessary to take these actions and recognises that this is a difficult time for all its employees.
Every effort will be made to achieve the proposed reductions through voluntary redundancy but compulsory redundancies may also be necessary.
The Company will also explore all job opportunities that may be available across the Imerys Group, both in the UK and overseas.
