Remote controlled rods saving NHS on surgeries

A new remote control device to help children born with a curved spine has transformed the life of a boy from Cornwall.

The MAGEC uses titanium rods that can be controlled by a remote control to keep a patient upright.

The device has saved 11-year old Reece Fiander from Launceston needing four surgeries. It could potentially save the NHS around £12,000 per patient.
