A Royal Marine who was jailed for the murder of an Afghan insurgent has had his bail bid denied.

Alexander Blackman from Taunton - also known as Marine A - was jailed for shooting a wounded Afghan insurgent five years ago.

A Royal Marine who was jailed for the murder of an Afghan insurgent is expected to receive a decision on whether he will be released on bail today.

The Royal Court of Justice court was due to hear an application for Blackman to be released while he awaits an appeal hearing against his conviction on Friday but the decision was postponed.

Alexander Blackman from Taunton - also known as Marine A - was jailed for shooting a wounded Afghan insurgent five years ago.
