Drivers are being advised to allow extra time for journeys as work continues to reopen the M5 near Tiverton.

The Southbound carriageway is still closed after a lorry overturned this morning. It collided with a bridge and central reservation barrier.

Diesel also spilled onto the road.

The bridge suffered only superficial damage but all three lanes of the southbound carriageway were damaged. Credit: ITV News

There was significant damage to the carriageway, repair and resurfacing work is ongoing and we hope to reopen all three lanes by early this evening. Delays are currently down to 16 minutes and in the meantime we advise drivers to allow extra time for their journeys
