The annual Goose Fair is returning to the west Devon town of Tavistock today.

The event dates back to the early 12th century when farmers would drive their Christmas geese to the market.

Now, geese and other livestock still play a big part in the fair, but there will also be stalls and fairground rides.

Motorists are advised to expect traffic delays.

There are currently road closures on the A386 Plymouth Road between A390 and Dolvin Road, Abbey Bridge and Chapel Street; until 7am on Thursday, 12 October. A one-way traffic system is also in place until 10am.
