John & Lisa’s Weekend Kitchen

Episode 10

John and Lisa have some Feelgood Family Favourites in their Weekend Kitchen. John starts with a simply delicious beef and mushroom stroganoff served with pappardelle. Lisa has a wonderfully warming vegetarian chilli and nacho bake - accompanied by a beautiful salsa. John has a clever way to make a one pot teriyaki salmon and noodles served with baked kale crisps, while, for pudding, Lisa has a classically comforting jam roly poly.

Series overview

Following the success of the summer series - that was filmed entirely during lockdown - John Torode and Lisa Faulkner continued working within the Covid guidelines to film a brand new series of John & Lisa’s Weekend Kitchen set to air this winter.

Series five was filmed with minimal crew to ensure all necessary health and safety advice was adhered to following the pandemic.

Viewers will see professional chef John and home cook Lisa provide much needed inspiration for hearty healthy family food and tasty festive treats for the wintery weeks ahead.

During the ten week series, the pair will cover everything from how to bake the perfect bread and their versions of family classics to foods that will lift your mood and guarantee smiles over the dinner table this Christmas, whoever you’ll be spending it with!

Every episode continues with its quick, hassle-free cooking mantra that the whole family can enjoy using easy-to-obtain ingredients, including delicious inspirational dishes taking you from breakfast time through to post dinner desserts, as well as added snack ideas inbetween. There will be ideas of what to cook your loved one for a special night in, and feel good family favourites including a vegetarian lasagne, spicy chicken, veggie chilli and nacho bake, plus pulled pork rolls, and sweet and sour prawn noodles.

For the sweet-toothed viewer, John and Lisa’s attainable versions of bread and butter pudding, jam roly poly, treacle tart and peach upside down cake will not disappoint either, bringing comfort and flavour to cosy weekends and nights in!

The couple will also be getting into the festive spirit this series as they approach their second Christmas together as husband and wife with three Christmas-themed episodes during December packed with all the trimmings and more including the perfect Crab Cocktail, Lisa’s Ultimate Nut Roast and a fantastic ‘one tray wonder’ - a Christmas Dinner Tray Bake - the key to achieving a stress-free Christmas dinner!

If that wasn’t enough, the duo will return to the kitchen in the New Year to help viewers with ideas of what to do with all their Christmas leftovers and healthy options for those wanting to start the year full of fresh food goodness and mood enhancing flavours.
