This brand new live current affairs programme hosted by ITV News political editor Robert Peston sets out to offer viewers a fresh and lively approach to politics every Sunday.
Produced by Shiver [which produced The ITV Leaders’ Debate in the lead up to the 2015 General Election] and transmitted live from ITV's The London Studios, the programme marks the channel's return to politics on Sundays.
Providing a distinctive perspective on the major stories of the day, Peston on Sunday will feature in-depth interviews with guests from across the political spectrum as well as figures from across the cultural landscape.
The programme will also offer live viewer engagement, led by presenter Allegra Stratton whose interactive screen will provide a portal into reaction on social media as well as the latest talking points from the political blogosphere and beyond.
Robert Peston says: “I’m excited by the opportunity to bring to ITV’s viewers a live, Sunday morning programme which will provide a distinctive forum for insight and opinion on what is happening in our world. I want to find out more about the important decision-makers who shape our society, beyond their two-dimensional political profiles.
“So this is not purely a political programme. The aim is to exist beyond the Westminster ‘bubble’ to offer an insight into our culture and be part of the national conversation on issues that affect everyone.”
ITV Controller of Current Affairs Tom Giles is the Commissioning Editor for Peston on Sunday, which is executive produced for Shiver by Alexander Gardiner and Mike Blair.
Gardiner and Blair’s credits include The ITV Leaders’ Debate, which aired on ITV on April 2 in the 2015 General Election campaign. Vicky Flind, former Editor of BBC One’s This Week, is Series Editor.
