Episode 1
This week Alan heads to Fareham near Southampton to surprise Betty Hicks (90), a fearless life-long volunteer and fundraiser.
Despite her years, Betty's last epic fund-raising adventure saw her abseil down Southampton Harbour's Spinnaker Tower in 2016.
Standing at 170 meters, this incredible feat was to raise money for a condition known as macular degeneration - a gradual loss of sight prevalent in the elderly. Betty also suffers from the condition, so her act of derring-do staggers Alan and the team.
Despite her get up and go, Betty's garden is a green-free concrete box - with so many levels and trip hazards - that it's off limits to the sight-impaired dare-devil, so the team set about transforming it into a safe, and sensory haven for her.   Inspired by Betty's love of vivid colour - which her failing sight can still appreciate - the team create an elegant formal garden that's brimming with the brightest of shades.
Alan shares some topiary tricks of the trade and along with the team astound Betty with the transformation.
