Series overview

Phillip Schofield is back with a second series of the worldwide hit 5 Gold Rings.

In a new and even more exciting format, viewers will see two teams go head to head as they battle it out to answer a host of visual questions against the clock by placing ever smaller gold rings onto a supersized image displayed on an LED floor beneath their feet. The smaller the ring the bigger the money and the harder to pinpoint the answer.

Phillip Schofield said: “I love the whole concept of this game, it’s a great family show that allows the viewers to take part and join in – whether that’s through the app or just pointing at their TV sets.  The new twists also make for some really tense and exciting battles amongst the contestants.”

For the teams the stakes are even higher as the they will now have just one chance to answer each question: if they answer the question correctly they will win the cash.  But if they are incorrect, the opposing team will have the chance to steal that question – and the cash. This means they could now win DOUBLE the jackpot – over £50,000!

To help the teams they will also be given the two ‘5 Gold Rings lifelines’. They can flip the floor revealing a new question and they can use their team of five, made up of family and friends sat in the audience who, using a digital tablet, will be able to place a virtual ring where they think the correct answer is.

For the contestants, every pixel really does count as state of the art software, specially crafted for this game detects – down to just one pixel - exactly where each ring is placed on the floor.

Each round gets decidedly more difficult as the gold rings decrease in size, making it even tougher to encircle the correct answer. As each ring decreases in size so the money increases.

5 Gold Rings is a Possessed (part of ITV studios) and Talpa production for ITV.  It was commissioned by Amanda Stavri, Commissioning Editor, Factual Entertainment for ITV.  Executive Producers are Glenn Hugill and Ed de Burgh for Possessed, the Series Producer is Anna Dunkley for Possessed.
