The Daily Mirror Pride of Britain Awards 2014

Prince Charles and Prime Minister David Cameron join the nation's biggest stars in saluting our unsung heroes at the Daily Mirror Pride of Britain Awards 2014.

Hosted by Carol Vorderman, the two hour special will present a unique night of truly extraordinary heroes. It is packed with the most amazingly uplifting and moving stories of courage, selflessness and achievement against the odds  - and more than a few surprises along the way.

Famous names from showbusiness, sport and politics unite to celebrate the most awe-inspiring achievements at the Grosvenor House in London's Park Lane.

Celebrities include Simon Cowell, Cheryl Cole, Jamie Oliver, Sir Tom Jones, Sir Bruce Forsyth, Mr Selfridge's Jeremy Piven,  Stephen Fry, Katherine Kelly, Amanda Holden, Who frontman Roger Daltrey, Russell Brand, John Bishop and Jimmy Carr and the stars of Strictly, Bake Off, Coronation Street and EastEnders. Sports stars include gold medal winning Olympians Sir Chris Hoy and Sir Bradley Wiggins. Also taking part from the works of music are The Script, McBusted, The Saturdays and Union J.

Winners range from a woman who has fostered 1,200 children to the British man who invented the world wide web. Also honoured will be £4 million charity fundraiser Stephen Sutton whose cancer battle inspired the nation.

England football hero Steven Gerrard and pop group The Vamps will be surprising courageous children with news they have won an award.

Carol Vorderman says: “It’s always a great honour to present the Daily Mirror’s Pride of Britain Awards and meet such extraordinary, courageous and awe-inspiring people. This year's winners are truly remarkable and the stories are breathtaking. Some are so moving I will ensure I'm wearing waterproof mascara!"
