Harbour Lives follows Ben Fogle on a journey deep into the heart of beautiful Dorset, where he meets the people lucky enough to call it their home.
Much more than just a beautiful landscape, Dorset is an area steeped in history and heritage.
Episode four:
Ben Fogle continues his journey around Dorset meeting the amazing people who live in this incredible part of Britain.
In episode four, Ben gets up close and personal with Dorset’s unique wildlife, sneaks a peek at one of Sandbanks priciest properties, and jumps aboard with the marauding pirates of Poole.
Dubbed the Platinum Peninsula, the tiny headland of Sandbanks is one of the most exclusive places in the world to live. Ben catches up with estate agent Adrian first seen in episode one.
With a new luxury block of five state of the art apartments added to his swish portfolio, Adrian’s hoping to beat the record for the most expensive property per square foot ever sold overlooking Poole Harbour.
Just a stone’s throw across the harbour from the man-made phenomena of Sandbanks, lies some of Britain’s most environmentally important nature reserves at Studland bay – the only place in the British isles to boast all six native species of reptile.
The programme meets nature lover Steve, a very committed wildlife photographer who’s going that extra mile to capture on film some of Dorset’s 400 species of bird.
Steve takes his 14 year old daughter out on an early morning photo shoot to capture some of the stunning wildlife the area has on offer, in an attempt to pass his love of photography on to her.
For centuries, Dorset’s coastline was a paradise for pirates and smugglers with endless nooks and crannies to hide their contraband. Harbour Lives sees a motley crew of faux pirates raid a neighbouring town with cannons, pyrotechnics and drums.
All the hard work pays off with The Poole Pirates managing to raise a lot of money for charity, a fitting tribute to the pirates of old.
